Kati Gegenheimer (b. 1984, Bucks County, PA) is an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture and lives and works in Philadelphia. She received an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University in 2013 and a BFA in Printmaking and Art History from the Tyler School of Art in 2007.
Gegenheimer's practice is rooted in painting but extends into architecture and social space. Her work embraces symbol-laden compositions and vibrant color to reclaim emblems of care and tenderness—hearts, love notes, hinges, calendars, keyholes, to-do lists. Drawing inspiration from art history, architecture, popular culture, and craft, her paintings are devoted expressions that function as signs, symbols, and records simultaneously. Reliant on color, tempo, and composition, each work explores how love and sentiment are practiced and sustained over time rather than experienced as fleeting moments.
